Instructors at Spiral Yoga are independent contractors working in a shared space to provide classes that reflect their unique style. We invite you to arrive on your mat just as you are to breathe, move, and connect mind, body and spirit. No matter where you are in your yoga journey, we hope you will find a warm and inclusive atmosphere at Spiral Yoga, and that you will feel comfortable growing your yoga practice.

"Be Kind Yoga"
I’ll be honest—I didn’t always love yoga. In the beginning, I found it hard to slow down and turn inward. I craved intensity and movement, and found it hard to settle into stillness. It wasn’t until I underwent a full knee reconstruction that yoga truly found its place in my life. Though I had practiced the asanas for over a decade, that experience finally invited me to pause, reflect, and embrace the deeper aspects of the practice.
Now, yoga is an essential part of how I show up—for myself and for my family. One of my greatest joys is sharing the practice with my boys and watching it become a playful, grounding outlet for them.
I completed my yoga teacher training in 2023 at Solo Yoga in Hudson, WI. I enjoy teaching a vinyasa-style class, weaving in mobility challenges and breathwork. I also love connecting with fellow parents and kids by encouraging mindful movement as a shared experience. I’m still exploring what feels most aligned for me as a teacher—because in the end, we’re all just practicing together.
My hope is that students leave my class feeling more at ease in their bodies—stronger, softer, and more connected in both mind and body.

"Whispers of Life Doula"
I first discovered the lineages of Yoga and Spring Forest Qigong in 2010, during a time of deep personal need. As I cared for my mother through her cancer journey, I sought a sense of safety and grounding within myself. After her passing in 2013, I felt called to explore the tender thresholds of grief and death more fully—instead of focusing on fear and avoidance, what if we could root into gentleness, presence, and education? This inner exploration led me to train as an End of Life Doula in early 2022.
Later that same year, my sister's death led me back to the practices of Yoga and other somatic movements as a way of opening up to and moving with my grief. Initially I immersed myself into the study of Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, later finding my way to Trauma Conscious Yoga. This approach resonated deeply with me and has guided me to an additional 300 hours of training through Svälja Whole Being in Duluth.
At the heart of my dharma — or life’s purpose — is a devotion to weave these sacred practices into shared spaces that invite intentional movement, song, poetry, ritual, and storytelling all within the soft presence of community. When I’m not in the studio, you’ll often find me in community spaces sharing songs and stories, wandering the trails of Dakota County and the North Shore, or simply curled up at home with my partner and our pup, Kip.
I warmly welcome you into our community at Spiral Yoga and look forward to walking alongside you through your own inner exploration.

“Yoga by Julie “
I am deeply committed to educating others on the advantages of slowing down to cultivate mental, physical and spiritual well-being. As a seasoned instructor, I provide a supportive environment and opportunities for growth in your practice. I have over a decade of experience teaching diverse yoga styles.
After having my third child in 2007, I discovered yoga as my sanctuary. Yoga became my sacred me time, nurturing my soul and empowering me to be a more loving and present parent. Through yoga, I found self-love and acceptance, unlocking my true potential and embracing my new role with open arms.
In 2012, my passion for my personal yoga practice evolved into a desire to share its benefits with others. I achieved my 200 hour yoga teacher training thru YogaFit and also an additional 100 hours in trauma recovery yoga in 2020.
In 2024, I received my certification as a Certified Sound Therapy Practitioner thru The School of Mindfulness and Sound.
Aside from sharing my passion of Yoga, you will see me enjoying walking, biking and running the Hastings trails. Also spending time with my husband, and actively encouraging our three teen/adult children to pursue their own passions in life!

I became interested in yoga when I took a college course in Eastern philosophy. We took postures in class while learning about Buddhist, Hindu, and Taoist ideas. Since that time, I have enjoyed experimenting with different yoga styles and developed a lifelong practice. Yoga is something I have come to rely on consistently to help me stay balanced through life's ups and downs.
After 30+ years as a yoga student I completed yoga teacher training at HeartWork Studio in Northfield, MN and became a Yoga Alliance registered teacher. My training included exploration of the 8 limbs of yoga, the yoga sutras, pranayama (breath work), meditation, and learning about a variety of yoga styles. I have additional training in Yin Yoga, Soma Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and the Nia technique. In my life long work as an educator and psychologist I have specialized training, knowledge and experience with mindfulness based approaches to relaxation and stress.
My practice is influenced mainly by Hatha, Iyengar, and somatic styles. In any class I teach, my goal is to have students feel safe exploring the space within their own bodies, find joy in movement, and utilize what they learn to enrich their lives.
I enjoy hiking, biking, books, music and travel. You might see me out walking with my dog Leo, pickle balling, or biking the 10 mile loop.
